Wenaha Henry Seeds to a Tree-A Story: Synopsis

Author of a nature-themed children’s book, Emanuel Rose creates Wenaha Henry: Seeds to a Tree in the hopes of making a lasting impact on the minds of children to feel the magic of the big trees, and the birds and animals who live in them. His desire to spark change and awareness helps him craft the stories of Wenaha Henry.

Rose begins his journey of writing nature-based stories for his grandson. He combines his love for the wilderness, remote Oregon, and his grandson to produce a memorable story. Rose strives to place the beauty of Oregon in Seeds to a Tree for his young readers to see, as well. The location is also what inspires him to create this book.

Learning about nature is important to Rose, so he helps his young readers see through the eyes of Wenaha Henry. Rose wants to teach not only his grandson, but other children about the importance of nature. He wants the actions of Wenaha Henry to reflect onto the readers, so they, too, can see why nature is crucial. Rose hopes that his readers will develop the “leave it better than you found it” mentality, when it comes to exploring the wild.

Rose’s goal for writing Wenaha Henry: Seeds to a Tree is to share his values with children. As an avid explorer, he wants his readers to understand the importance of taking care of the planet.

Rose’s goal for writing Wenaha Henry: Seeds to a Tree is to share his values with children. As an avid explorer, he wants his readers to understand the importance of taking care of the planet. The purpose of Seeds to a Tree is to get children excited about the outdoors. The book is also for those young readers not yet connected to nature but are ready to build it. Seeds to a Tree is made to be engaging and an easy read for children.
Along with the adventure of Wenaha Henry, Rose wants to include a special gift for his readers. With every book is a packet of Douglas Fir tree seeds. Rose includes this so his readers can build an even stronger connection to nature. He also wants to support the connection between the reader and their parents or guardians, just like Wenaha Henry and his father do in the story. Rose includes the seeds so the children planting them feel more empowered, and he hopes this helps them realize they can make a difference in the wild.
Rose writes Wenaha Henry: Seeds to a Tree to encourage intentional thinking among readers. The state of nature is affected by humans, and Rose yearns to implement a new state of thinking upon these children. Rose hopes the children can take the health of nature into their own hands and become more mindful, as Wenaha Henry does in this story. Seeds to a Tree is created so the younger generation can learn and ask questions about nature. Rose wants his readers to understand the cause and impact that fires have on the wild.
Rose hopes that after reading this book, children feel more inspired to connect with nature, openly ask questions, and take initiative.
